Thiamine HCl BP
COMPOSITION
Each ml injection contains Thiamine HCl BP 100 mg.
MODE OF ACTION
Thiamine HCl of Nuromin® Vet Injection is a colorless compound. It is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol. Thiamine decomposes if heated. Thiamine plays a key role in intracellular glucose metabolism and it is thought that thiamine inhibits the effect of glucose and insulin on arterial smooth muscle cell proliferation. Thiamine plays an important role in helping the body convert carbohydrates and fat into energy. It is essential for normal growth and development and helps to maintain proper functioning of the heart and the nervous and digestive systems. Thiamine cannot be stored in the body; however, once absorbed, the vitamin is concentrated in muscle tissue.
INDICATION
Nuromin® Vet Injection is effective for the treatment of thiamine deficiency or beri-beri whether of the dry (major symptoms related to the nervous system) or wet (major symptoms related to the cardio-vascular system) variety.
It should be used where rapid restoration of thiamine is necessary, as in wernick’s encephalopathy, infantile beri-beri with acute collapse. Cardiovascular diseases due to thiamine deficiency or neurites of pregnancy if vomiting is severe. It is also indicated when giving IV dextrose to individuals with marginal thiamine status to avoid precipitation of heart failure.
It is also indicated in palpitation with established thiamine deficiency who can’t take thiamine orally due to coexisting severe anorexia, nausea, vomiting, or malabsorption.
It is not usually indicated for conditions of decreased oral intake or decreased gastrointestinal absorption, because multiple vitamins should usually be given.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
A general average dose for all species may be 2.5-6.5 ml for 100 kg body weight for intramuscular use but can be used with dextrose in IV at minimum dose slowly.

CONTRAINDICATION
Nuromin® Vet Injection is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Thiamine HCl preparation.
SIDE EFFECT
There is no known side effect of Nuromin® Vet Injection while used in recommended dosage.
USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Nuromin® Vet Injection is safe drug for use during pregnancy and lactation. However, risk & necessity should considered before administration.
